Have you ever made a decision that felt like an absolute “no-brainer?” This type of decision requires almost zero thought. For example, if you asked me if I thought the Texas A&M Aggies were better than the Texas Longhorns, I would say yes without hesitation! It’s a nobrainer… What about suffering? If we were suffering and we were given the option to stop hurting, most often we would say yes without hesitation. In Exodus 8:9, Pharaoh was given a decision like this one. In the context of Exodus 8, Egypt was facing the 10 plagues because they were holding the people of God captive. This go around, they were facing the plague of frogs. There were frogs everywhere! However, Moses says to Pharaoh in Exodus 8:9, “The honor is yours to tell me: when shall I entreat for you and your servants and your people, that the frogs be destroyed from you and your houses…?”
Pharaoh was given a choice to remove the frogs from the land and to end this plague. He could have chosen any time he wanted. It appears obvious that he would pick immediately, but verse 10 tells us his choice. He said, “Tomorrow.” Instead of finding relief immediately, he spent another night with the frogs. His pride caused him to spend another night with those slimy creatures. Do we not act the same way sometimes? God promises us forgiveness from our sins immediately (1 John 1:9), but we choose to wrestle with them longer than we have to. Instead of confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness, we say, “Tomorrow.” Don’t allow pride to overtake you like Pharaoh did; confess your sins and find immediate relief in the Lord. It’s a no-brainer…
