Another year of Camp Hensel has come and gone, and it was a success! For more than 50 years the Southwest congregation has conducted the Hensel camp session with the help of our sister congregations from near and far. In that time we have seen hundreds of campers and staff members whose lives have been forever changed because of their time at camp. Every year friendships are born, problems are solved, and the bonds of fellowship are strengthened. It is a wonderful opportunity to step out of the world and its harmful influences and focus upon growing closer to God and giving Him glory. Truly it is a blessing to be granted the privilege of taking part in such a wonderful work.
Camp is only successful, however, because of the boundless effort that is put forth by a great number of Christians. There are so many who have a hand in making camp a success that we cannot begin to name them for fear of unintentionally leaving someone out. From those who provide food and supplies, to those who provide transportation, to those who help set up and clean up, to those who provide financial assistance, to the cook staff, the counselors, teachers, operations workers, and everyone else who participated in the effort we wish to say, “Thank You!” We deeply appreciate all of your effort and we thank God for you!
The Bible says that every member has an important role to play in making the Lord’s work successful (1 Cor. 12), and we are involved in a great number of different works at Southwest. From camp, to Arise, to our annual Ladies Day, to the Southwest School of Bible Studies, and beyond, there is much to do! We are so fortunate to have a membership that is steadfastly devoted to making everything we do for the Lord a success. Thank you for your service and remember the words of Hebrews 6:10 – “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shown toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
To God be the glory!
With sincere appreciation,
Jamie Harris and Cody Westbrook.
