Currently, evangelism is a hot topic for many congregations of the Lord’s church and rightly so. Today, many congregations close their doors each year. Therefore, this interest and desire for church growth is very encouraging. Certainly, we should like to see this hunger and thirst for evangelism, instead of apathy among our brethren.
The House to House School of Evangelism is a great work that is designed to motivate congregations of the Lord’s body to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). In teaching the seminar, Rob Whitacre does an excellent job explaining the evangelistic principles of Jesus and the first century church, as they preached Christ and His kingdom, which is what Back to the Bible is based on (Acts 8:12). Additionally, he does a phenomenal job at laying out a Congregational Evangelism Plan, which is based upon the great commission to teach, baptize, and teach (Matt. 28:19-20). Gratefully, last week, Rob did the whole seminar for the Southwest School of Bible Studies students. This is what Trent wrote about it:
“The Southwest School of Bible Studies in Austin, Texas, was privileged to have Rob and Nicole Whitacre of HTHSOE. Rob taught our 19 students, some alumni, a future student, and visitors during the day as part of our Evangelism Curriculum. The students were educated and edified. Nicole taught the ladies one night, and the lesson was well-received. Rob and Nicole’s zeal for evangelism is evident and contagious. We ended the week with a practicum of helping an alumnus and the congregation where he preaches in a door-knocking campaign. The students reported that Rob’s teaching had already given them confidence, comfort, and focus to talk to the lost of the community. We count the short week that Rob spends teaching and motivating our student body to be an indispensable part of the SWSBS curriculum.” – Trent Kennedy, Director.
Certainly, the seminar is an encouragement in many ways. In fact, the first time I heard it two years ago at the Arise workshop; the many times I have listened to it since; even to last week with the students, I am still encouraged and learn from Rob and the Houseto-House School of Evangelism program. If you would like to give it a listen, you can purchase a copy of his seminar through the House-to-House website. I would encourage everyone to get the complete collection, so you have access to every lesson.
